Service Opportunities

If you are looking to get involved in service opportunities during your first year as a student at CSU there are a number of volunteer opportunities throughout the academic year. As a student living in the residence halls or a member of NRHH, you will have the chance to be involved with the following programs and groups to name a few:

CSUnity & Fall Clean Up – A one-day service experience. Each spring & fall over 2,000 CSU students gather for a day-long service plunge in and around the Fort Collins community! Join fellow students in planting trees, painting houses, visiting with senior citizens, sorting food, and much more. Services are provided to neighbors in the community, the City of Fort Collins, state, county and federal agencies, and local non-profits. A bountiful variety of volunteer opportunities are available.

Cans Around the Oval – is a CSU tradition, where students, faculty and staff partner with community members, local media and area businesses to raise awareness about the facts surrounding the issue of hunger, as well as raise food and monetary donations. This event is Larimer County’s largest single-day food drive.

Americorps program is a regional effort to engage students in meaningful service with local communities.

Alternative Breaks are an immersion experience into different cultural, environmental and socioeconomic communities across the nation. Students provide service in exchange for education about current social and cultural issues facing the host communities.

SLiCE Adaptive Swim is a program where student volunteers interact with community members – both children and adults with a variety of disabilities. Each week students and their partners spend an hour in the pool for exercise, games and friendship.

T.G.I.F. is a program where college student volunteers interact with teens in Fort Collins with disabilities. Each month, students and their partners get together on a Friday evening for fun, including: bowling, movies, skit night, craft night, mini-golf and much more!

Project Homeless Connect is a one-day event that provides individuals and families currently experiencing homelessness with access to vital services such as: rapid-re-housing, basic medical exams, legal advice and much more. It’s a one-stop shop for assistance that helps families stop struggling and paves the way for their success.
