Academic Support

Students come to CSU for academics pursuits of excellence. CSU provides students with countless resources and support groups to make sure students are supported and encouraged in all forms of learning throughout the year. Some of those resources are:

The Institute for Learning and Teaching (TILT) – offers 16 programs that work together to enhance learning, teaching, instructional innovation, and student success at CSU. TILT works with a wide range of programs across the University to pursue its mission, including its primary partners, the Center for Advising and Student Achievement  (CASA) and the Transfer Student Center, which are also housed at the TILT building.

Study Skills Workshops – several times each week, TILT’s Learning Programs offers face-to-face academic and study skills workshops.

Academic Coaching – work 1-1 with a Learning Programs staff members who can help you make a plan for your successful semester, or just give you some tips on getting organized and studying effectively.

U-Turn – whether you have a ‘U’ now, or want to make the Dean’s List, this event is for you. U-Turn will help you develop a personal plan connecting you with the academic resources needed to turn this semester into a success.

Writing Center – CSU Writing Center is a free service open to CSU students, faculty and staff as well as the local Fort Collins community. The goal is to engage the community in conversations about writing; to that end, provide face to face and online consultations for writers in all disciplines working on all types of writing from traditional research papers to electronic texts such as websites and blogs. Beginning with writers’ needs and concerns, using knowledge and expertise to enhance writers’ understanding of a variety of rhetorical issues, such as purpose, audience, style and conventions. The center strive to help writers develop the confidence to make effective writing choices in any writing situation. In these ways, the center wants to create better writers, not just better writing.

Adult Learner & Veteran Services (ALVS) – Supports the academic success of adult learners and student veterans by providing programs that educate students about the value of using resources that are available at CSU and in Fort Collins. ALVS also provides many services that support student parents, such as a breast feeding room and Ram Kidz Village in Morgan Library.

Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center – APACC provides programs and services to support the retention, graduation and success of students. The office contributes to an inclusive campus environment by providing resources for Asian/Pacific American awareness and education.

Black/African American Cultural Center – B/AACC assists African American students with their transitions to CSU and throughout their academic careers by providing support and encouragement for their academic, professional, cultural and personal development.

Career Center – Empowers students to pursue satisfying careers through the development of individualized career plans. Whether students are just beginning their college experience or approaching graduation, the office is available for help.

El Centro – assists Hispanic, Chicano, Mexican American and Latino/a students in their academic and professional pursuits through programs that support cultural and personal development.

Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning & Ally Resource Center (GLBTQQARC) – The center provides support services for GLBTQQ students and allies of the CSU community. The office initiates, coordinates and provides educational materials, programs and professional development opportunities for all CSU students, faculty and staff members on GLBT issues to help enhance a campus environment that welcomes all students, faculty and staff.

Native American Cultural Center – NACC assists CSU in retention of Native American students through services and programs that support students’ cultural, academic, professional, and personal development. Offer programs to increase awareness and appreciation of American Indian culture on campus and in the community.
